New Identity:
My Inheritance as a Royal Child of God
After receiving salvation in Jesus Christ, we become new creations in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17). One of the main purposes of salvation is to embrace this new identity and receive it, as the old identity passes away. In Christ, we are able to fully cast off our old identity as children of the world. When we choose to accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, we experience a new birth. When we accept Christ into our hearts, we are spiritually “born-again” into our new identity. God teaches us that we can only walk in this new identity if we believe in it. If we don't believe in it, it won't be real. We are to completely take on our new identity in Christ as a part of our inheritance as children of God. Once we choose to accept the truth of Jesus as the Savior of humanity, we become co-heirs with Him to the kingdom of God (Romans 8:17). We must remember that in order for these truths to blossom and in order to have victory in life, we must wholeheartedly believe in and trust in what God is saying about us.
